Today was the Day of Service & Love. It’s been observed on 2/14 for the past two years, but this year it was two days early.
I have decided not to participate in the past, and have done other things instead. I wanted to go to yoga today. I wanted to go to the beach today. I wanted to participate today.
In spite of being very fair and always turning into a lobster, I really do love the beach. I love the sand in my toes. I love the sound of the water. It’s so calm and peaceful. When I meditate, I envision this exact spot.
I saw coworkers, friends, current and former students. Due to COVID, we had to remain socially distanced and wear masks the whole time.
It rained a little while we were doing yoga. I know it sounds cheesy, but it was refreshing and felt like our pain was being washed away.
After yoga was over, we each got some petals to release into the ocean. It was cathartic.
I’m so glad I went. I can’t thank my friend Amy for doing this for us. She’s the yoga instructor at school. She constantly gives so much of herself to all of us. She’s just amazing.
