Tonight was prom. I love to chaperone, because it’s so nice to see the kids dressed up and fancy. It’s also fun for me to get dressed up, too.
I wore the same dress I wore to my son’s Bar Mitzvah in January. I really love it, and wanted to get some use out of it. I had no idea that rose gold would be one of the most popular colors of the night. I also had on my sparkly rose gold sneakers, because I’m not stupid. I knew my feet would be on fire by the end of the night.
I had my former student, Kaleigh, come over to help me with my hair. Any time I travel, she straightens my hair; I call it my travel hair. Since it’s so short, I wanted to try something different. She made me look fancy.
My date for the evening was Jacob. He’s the debate teacher at school. He’s my buddy, and he was so much fun to go with. He’s a great dancer, totally uninhibited and just wants to have a good time. We decided to take an awkward prom photo… I was laughing the whole time.
The prom was sponsored by Hollister. The school won a contest. The students received swag bags (video below), had a celebrity guest DJ, and had some other amenities from Hollister. I didn’t get any pictures of the room, but I got some with a few of my students and friends.
